My journey as an artist began under the guidance of one of New Zealand’s most celebrated creatives, Yvonne Rust. She tutored me for four years and encouraged me to think differently and take risks with my artwork. Since 2005 I have been working as a full time artist now based in Rangiora where I operate a separate Studio open to the public.

I have successfully exhibited in N.Z with hundreds of paintings sold.

My “ Dreamscapes” explore vivid light and vibrant colour often using the palette knife.

Creative N.Z invited John to write his memoirs of Yvonne Rusty for her biography “Maverick Spirit”. John was humbled to have a full page in the book along with photographs of his work.
