Russel Perry
In 2013, Russell Perry unexpectedly discovered his passion for art using his children's brushes, a watercolor set, and quality paper, falling in love with the rewarding challenge of the medium.
Faith, God's daily light displays, and this exquisite part of His Creation we call home - these three fuel Russell's art. He doesn't conform to the traditional expectations of watercolour works. Being self-taught tends to do that! It also helps that no one told him "watercolour is perhaps the hardest painting medium," or he might not have given it a go. Some 200 paintings down the line, he is glad still to be exploring the exquisite results beautiful pigments, thirsty brushes, and clean water can work on really good cotton rag. Whilst he looks at what others can achieve in oil, acrylic, gouache, and more with a degree of envy, his hunger is to continue exploring what it means to be a watercolourist. There is so much yet to learn.
